AWEX, the Wallonia Export-Investment Agency, is co-organising a royal, multi-sector trade mission to Colombia and Peru, from 18 to 25 October 2014. This will be its first royal trade mission to these two countries. No less than 40 Walloon businesses will be making the trip.

For several years, Colombia and Peru have featured amongst some of the world’s most dynamic economies, registering growth rates of over 4 %, and thereby earning themselves the name ‘Latin American Tigers’. The Walloon companies expect to grasp some of the business opportunities which these two high-potential countries have to offer. 40 companies will be making the trip, including around ten from the healthcare sector. Other focus sectors include the infrastructure and agro-industry sectors.

Amongst others, the schedule includes: a meeting of Walloon healthcare companies with the Ministers of Health in Colombia and Peru in the presence of Princess Astrid, a power lunch for Belgian and Colombian companies from the energy sector and a chance for Walloon companies to participate in the 'Energy Track’ of the Agoria Energy Club at Bogota, a visit to the Ecopétrol petroleum company, a seminar on the port infrastructures at Bogota and a seminar on the agro-food logistics in Lima. In addition, FEDICT (Information and Communication Technology Federal Public Service) is organising a panel discussion in Bogota concentrating on e-Government, with the participation of Walloon companies.

A considerable delegation from ARES (Academy for Research and Higher Education) will also be present in Bogota, with a packed schedule including a seminar on technology innovation and transfer.

And finally, a concert by a musician of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation is scheduled for the evening of Friday 24 October.
