"ETY-ONE" is an artistic and cultural project which aims to reconcile traditional (old) and modern (new) art, with a view to refine the works it produces, thus making them more beautiful and appealing to the senses.
The name "ETY-ONE" comes from a combination of the traditional African language of Baoulé and the modern international language of English. In Baoulé, the three (3) letters "ETY" mean "WE ARE" and this combines with the three (3) letters "ONE" in English to form "WE ARE ONE". In the spirit of this blend of old and new, "ETY-ONE" uses 50 per cent traditional and 50 per cent modern techniques and components to make and represent works of art.
For example, the project might add LEDs, electronics and directed light to a wooden lion sculpture to make it more beautiful, realistic and attractive. Or, "ETY-ONE" could take a painting created using a traditional printing technique on an entirely handmade, traditional fabric canvas and use computer-aided design and modern, artificial colour to make it simultaneously more attractive and original.
Just like the composition and meaning of its name, "ETY-ONE" (meaning "WE ARE ONE") advocates merging together traditional and modern art to elevate and improve the cultural and artistic field.
Neither one of the processes is disfavoured; instead, the skilful blending and egalitarian union of the two techniques is highlighted.
"ETY-ONE" is aimed at everyone who loves artistic perfection, at all traditional art advocates and also at all digital and modern art lovers.
In short, "ETY-ONE" is intended for the extensive artistic family as a whole.
