Created by Franco Dragone and directed by Luc Petit, “Décrocher la Lune” recently brought home the prize for world’s best show at the 2017 THEA Awards, in the category “Live Event Spectacular on a Limited Budget”. The sixth version of the urban opera was chosen from among 200 candidates, the ranks of whom included international heavyweights such as Universal, Disney, Le Puy du Fou, and the Van Gogh expo. It is an impressive win, and, above all, it is a win for creativity.

After bringing home 3 awards at the 2016 EUBEAs (European Best Event Awards) and at the 2016 BEAs (Belgian Event Awards), Luc Petit CREATION, the non-profit association Décrocher la Lune, and the city of La Louvière can be proud that their show, “Décrocher la Lune VI”, won an award at the 2017 THEA Awards.

As a reminder, in 2000, Franco Dragone (then director for the Cirque du Soleil), returned to his home town, La Louvière, to found his own theatre troupe. Looking for a big event to ring in the start of the year 2000, the city turned to him, and he hired Luc Petit to direct the original “Décrocher la Lune”. Sixteen years later, the sixth version of the urban opera has just been showered with honours on the world stage, after shining brightly as part of Mons 2015, European Capital of Culture.
